BELGRADE - Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said today that Serbia’s participation in the environmental conference being held in Bali will help attract further investment in the recycling industry.
In a statement to Tanjug news agency, Dulic said that he expects 10,000 more jobs to be created in Serbia’s recycling industry this year.
Opportunities are opening up for investing in the electronic and packaging waste recycling industries, said Dulic.
In 2009, Serbia attracted significant green economy investment, primarily in the recycling industry, where more than 500 new jobs were created, he said.
It is estimated that this year, investment in electronic and packaging waste recycling will lead to 10,000 new jobs and it could become one of the most dynamic industries in Serbia, Dulic said.
The Bali environmental conference, which began on 23 February and will last until 26 February, is focusing on various environmental issues, and several important declarations related to the chemical industry have been adopted, said the Minister.
International environmental management and issues related to the preservation of biodiversity will also be discussed at the conference. At the end of the conference ministerial resolutions will be passed which will lay the guidelines for global environmental management, said Dulic.
